Back at the mic!

It’s been a while since I got up on stage, and exposed my most vulnerable bits. I mean public nudity can be scary, but stand-up is truly nerve-wracking. That being said, it’s been really great getting back on the mic. I actually started doing stand-up within a year of getting to the city, but then I got distracted by the bewitching art form that is improv. After that, I blacked out for about 8 years, but I’ve now found my way back into the scene.

I once heard a comedian say that the worse you do in life, the better you’ll do on stage. I think that might be true because it took a pretty crappy year to get me back to stand-up. To actually need it. It’s a powerful feeling. It’s also just cheaper than therapy which is probably why we do it. And as long as it’s entertaining, they’ll let us keep doing it.

I’ve also had this nagging thought in my head that I should be doing stand-up in Spanish. Probably because of all the Spanish stand-up I’ve seen on Netflix. The problem is I’m stuck in an English speaking city with no real Spanish comedy scene. I guess I’ll have to build one.
